Dr. Colleen Cole Beucher, soprano, is a new Assistant Professor of Voice at the University of Florida. She completed her DMA in Vocal Performance at the University of Michigan, where she studied under Dr. Louise Toppin. Over the past year, she has performed in several seminar recitals with the Singing Justice Collaboratory, an organization dedicated to “Recovering the African American voice in Song.” Colleen’s performance and research interests are in the fields of African American and African Diaspora Art Song, as well as Catalan art song. While she specializes in western-classical vocal technique, Dr. Beucher is also skilled at teaching and singing non-classical styles. She has extensive experience cross training students to sing successfully across multiple genres, be it classical, musical theater, jazz, or contemporary commercial music. As an applied voice instructor, she strives to honor and develop each student’s specific vocal strengths and interests, while also supplementing their education with training in other voice genres.
